Spanish Rental Rates Highest in Comparison to Price

The left hand graph (Published by The Economist - sorry now offline) presents Spanish, British and American house prices in comparison to rents. Initial analysis of the graph would indicate that Spanish property has the highest rent in comparison to Spanish property prices, suggesting that it is overvalued. Anyone with any real knowledge of the housing market in Spain however, will realise that these figures are somewhat misleading, when the reality of ''official'' house prices in Spain differ greatly from the ''actual'' prices of property bought in Spain. Should we be able to compile data from the real figures of Spanish property transactions, then we are confident that the property in Spain wouldn''t look quite so over-valued as this chart suggests...
